Seniors Need Help Too

  To start, this is the hardest thing in the world for me to do….that is to ask for help….but when you are “down and out” this far, one must ask…..solicit…….plead…..beg You are invited to help! And Please DO! We really need it. The hole has been deep for a couple of years and getting laid off in January (my birthday month – ahhhh now 62) we fall into a serious negative cash position. I immediately started looking for work, sending out 30 to 50 resumes a week……and yes I have also been focused on some specific types of jobs….but three months later, not one response.  Both the wife and myself were married for life to our first spouses (over 30 years each), but long term battles with terminal illnesses took each of our spouses, one with a four year battle, one with a six year battle….which left both of us in financial holes in excess of $100,000. In the past couple of years, we have climbed out to about $50,000 left in debt, mostly medical, and mostly on credit cards. Now, with no job on my side of things, we are going to lose our home, car and credit standing. 

Please help. Please, if you can! 

I do not usually ask for help as I am the type of person who is a giver. I have contributed considerably to churches, schools, children’s programs with all resources (time, talent, and money), so this is really hard for me to even ask. I have gone on Social Security to help a little but that is a little less than half of our monthly expenses. We do not have any other aid or help. My wife’s medications total $800 a month and we have no insurance. I went out and started doing construction jobs to get some cash coming in (you thought it was tough digging ditches and finishing concrete when your in your 20s and 30s….try it at 62). One little payment of $120 caused me to loose my unemployment. What an system unemployment insurance is.  

We hope with all our hearts that someone out there is reading this right now and is feeling encouraged to help us. We need help to climb out of this hole quickly. I need a job where I can put 30+ years of human resource leadership, training and management to work for a great company.

 When I get back on my feet, you will be able to count on my help in return……but right now, we are seniors in need of help!
